Instructional Design

Impact Academy takes a whole-person approach to the educational process by creating a community in which students take ownership over their learning and their lives. To achieve this goal, our educational model places emphasis on three pillars to support students along their learning journey. 1. Academic foundations 2. Social-emotional learning 3. Community connections.

  1. The academic foundation of Impact Academy strives to make learning real-world and relevant to students’ lives by building on their strengths and interests. Learning extends beyond the walls of the classroom as students learn in and with their community through project-based learning.
  2. Social-emotional learning is integrated into the student experience, and equal to academics. Building from identified strengths, students develop knowledge, behaviors, and skills to help them navigate personal, social, community, and systemic challenges that impact their lives.
  3. Community connections take students and families beyond traditional classroom experiences. Programming leverages community resources and embraces community-based learning through work with partner organizations, job shadowing, internships, service learning, and exposure to a range of postsecondary opportunities.
